Lies From Your Eating Disorder

Eating disorders are both sneaky and aggressive. They can feel both insidious and loud at the same time. With one goal in mind (whether that be safety, control, connection and belonging, or worth), they will do and say whatever they need to in order for you to listen. But these are all lies, a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Sure, they sound plausible - “eating less, losing weight, being skinny will make people like me” - but ultimately the goal post keeps moving back, the weight loss is never enough; the workouts, the binges and purging, the body checking, the calorie counting, the rules on rules on rules - never enough. Recovery is about understanding what these lies are perpetuating and why and figuring out how to meet these needs in other ways. Start working with an eating disorder specialist today to determine what your eating disorder is doing for you.
